A Few of Our Favorite Things Hygiene Edition

Here are some of our hygienist favorite things!  We thought it would be fun to ask our hygienist some questions so you can get to know them and their favorite products to use at home.   

Sonia

Favorite part about being a hygienist? “I enjoy the feeling I get when I know I’ve gotten through to a patient and I see his or her overall gums or mouth health improve.  I love the feeling of satisfaction of removing calculus and stain!”

Favorite Toothpaste?I can’t use OTC toothpaste, so my favorite is Young Living Dentarome.  It makes my mouth feel clean minus the extra chemicals other toothpaste have. “

Favorite Electric Toothbrush?I love my Sonicare!  I’ve had one since I graduated dental hygiene school in 1997.  It makes my teeth feel amazingly clean and I know it’s doing a great job with the 60 thousand brush strokes it creates!”

What is something you would like your patients to know about their visits or hygiene? “That us hygienist are more than a glorified tooth picker.  We’re here to help maintain their oral health which can in turn help with their overall health.”

Favorite part about being a hygienist? “Meeting new patients and helping them overcome dental anxiety also cultivating life long relationships with current patients.  It’s like family!”

Favorite Toothpaste?  “Sensodyne.  Helps with sensitivity that can really effect your oral health and ability to eat and drink cold things.”

Favorite Electric Toothbrush? “Sonicare Diamond Clean.  Oscillating vibration does a great job at removing plaque and bacteria.  Love the timer!”

What is something you would like your patients to know about their visits or hygiene?  “Oral hygiene is much more than just your teeth and mouth.  Your mouth is connected to the rest of your body to keep the rest of your body health it starts with your mouth.”

 

Brandi

Favorite part about being a hygienist?  “I love interacting with patients and learning about them.  Each patient has a different story and some end up becoming friends.”

Favorite Toothpaste?  “I like Crest Gum and sensitivity for patients because it helps with gingivitis and tooth sensitivity. “

Favorite Electric Toothbrush?  “I like Oral B Braun.  It’s just the one I have used for years.  I like the smaller round brush head and it makes my teeth feel clean.”

What is something you would like your patients to know about their visits or hygiene?  “I am here to provide quality care to my patients.  Please let me know if you have any questions that will help me better educate you on your oral health.”

 

Lexi

Favorite part about being a hygienist? “Working one on one with patients being able to make relationships with them and teaching them about oral health.”

Favorite Toothpaste?  “Sensodyne Pronamel relieves any unwanted tooth sensitivity helps keep enamel strong and prevents cavities.”

Favorite Electric Toothbrush?  “Phillips Sonicare gentle but thorough cleaning.”

What is something you would like your patients to know about their visits or hygiene?  “Oral health goes hand in hand with overall health.  The bacteria that causes gum disease also causes heart attacks and strokes.  Just one of the many reasons oral health is so important.”
